As a small business, how frequently should I be posting on Social Media?
The first step is to decide which platforms are right for your Business. This can sometimes be a case of trial and error; you are looking to find the platform where you get the most engagement. For visual businesses, then Instagram and Facebook are probably right for you. For constant interaction and discussion, LinkedIn and Twitter are probably more suited. You may choose one of each to have a broader audience.
You need to find your voice and tell your story as people will revisit your pages if they connect with you. So, how often should you be posting? Here are our thoughts as to how frequently you should be posting.
FACEBOOK – If you post too frequently you appear spammy and people will definitely unfollow you. Ideally, you should be sharing once a day (or a minimum of three times a week). To gain the most reaches share fewer posts but promote some of them. In the long term, this will increase your engagement.
INSTAGRAM – Buffer says major brands post on average one to two times a day and no more. Consumers will have their feed taken up with your posts if it is more frequent and you risk having them unfollow you. Instagram is a very visual platform; you need to get your content spot on. Quality over quantity.
TWITTER – Retweets typically happen one hour after you have tweeted. Therefore, the more frequently you tweet the more likely you are to engage with your audience. The optimum amount of times to tweet is about fifteen a day. Engaging with people who are influential in your field will promote your brand and keep you on their radar.
LINKEDIN– Once a day is the most you should post, with three times a week being the minimum. LinkedIn is a little like Facebook for the Business world.
